TRANSFER PROGRAMS
All Canadian higher education institutions are divided into universities and colleges. It is worth noting that a Canadian college is not a vocational or specialized school in soviet terms. This is a full-fledged higher education institution, which issues bachelor’s degree diplomas.
These education institutions (together with 8 other Canadian universities) are practicing a unique program called the University Transfer. It consists of the following: students begin a bachelor’s degree program in a particular college. They learn about 4 academic subjects, which may be scored a maximum of 4 points each, as well as English language and one optional major field subject. After two years of study, students are transferred to prestigious universities, where they complete the program and obtain a bachelor’s degree. University Transfer is ideal for CIS-students, as they can be transferred from the first or second course of their university to a university in Canada, without losing time. After having completed the program and received a bachelor’s degree, the fresh graduate may work in the country for about 3 years, and then apply for permanent residence.
