DRIVING IN CANADA
In order to drive a car in Canada, you must undergo the procedure of obtaining a driving license. If you have immigrated to Canada with a driving license issued by your home country, you only need to successfully pass the examination on the rules of the road, based on which a G1 driving license is issued. It allows driving a vehicle on one’s own during two months. After this period, the document becomes invalid. In order to renew a driving license, it is necessary to pass the road regulations’ and driving exam and receive a full-fledged G2 driving license or a higher license class.
If you are immigrating to Canada without driving license, firstly you will have to learn all the fundamentals of driving, traffic signs and take the G1 test. One year is given to learn driving. After that, you may take the next class test. Some drivers shorten this period up to 8 months, by attending special driving courses. It is also worth mentioning that after moving to Canada all the insurance is nulled and only accident-free driving experience within the country is taken into account.
