IMMIGRATION PROGRAMS

There are few immigration programs. Here below you may find the main characteristics of each program and a link to a more detailed description.

It is a Federal program, which selects people with skilled work experience for provincial immigration programs.

Canada’s Express Entry covers the following programs:
  • the federal program - Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • the federal program - Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • the federal program - Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • the provincial program - Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)

The essence of the Express Entry program: first, all applications under federal programs FSWP, FSTP and CEC are placed in one common system, called the Express Entry Pool.

Then, your personal profile - Express Entry Profile is created in the general database of the Canada’s immigration system, in the Express Entry Pool. If the applicant meets the requirements of at least one program, his/her data are transferred to the common database of candidates - Pool of Candidates. Each application is awarded points on a number of characteristics according to a special algorithm, known as the Comprehensive Ranking System. After receiving a Canadian diploma, you and your spouse can work in Canada for 2-3 years, which gives you the opportunity to apply for permanent residence. Moreover, to obtain a 2-3 years’ work visa you are not required to leave the country.
Please note that 2 years of full-time study at the university and 1 year of full-time employment in Canada provide a lot of extra points for immigration (permanent residence), which can be decisive.

2. THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSES IN CANADA

Have you been learning English for many years, but still cannot speak fluently? Do you have difficulties expressing your thoughts in verbal communication, constantly thinking how to structure sentences? Do you want to be able not only to write, but also to speak correctly? ESL English conversation courses will help you to start speaking.

3. QUICK ENTRY TO CANADA VIA CO-OP PROGRAMS

This is an opportunity not only to take courses in one of the most prestigious colleges in the beautiful Canadian city of Toronto or Vancouver, but also to get Canadian work experience with a good salary for a student.

4. TRANSFER PROGRAMS

Higher education institutions (HEI) are divided into colleges and universities. College is not a technical or vocational school, or an institute. College is a higher education institution, which has the right to confer bachelor's degree. In general, universities consist of several colleges, each specializing in certain fields.

There is no need to take entrance exams, in order to be enrolled in a Canadian university or college, (hereinafter referred to as HEI). Students are enrolled based on their performance at school. It is possible to be transferred from the first or second year of studies of the country of residence to the Canadian HEI without losing time.

After graduation from a Canadian HEI you may work in Canada for 3 years, which also makes you eligible to apply for permanent residence and it is also not required to leave the country to obtain a work permit.

Moreover, 2 years of full-time study at a HEI and 1 year of full-time employment in Canada gives five (5) extra points during immigration process, which can be decisive.

The College and 8 universities in Canada offer a unique program – the University Transfer. Students begin the Bachelor program in a college, and then after 1 or 2 years of study they are transferred to the chosen university to complete the program and obtain a bachelor's degree.

CANADIAN WORK PERMIT

Skilled workers, who are planning to work in Canada on a permanent basis, have to apply for Independent Immigration (Skilled Worker) program. However, if a specialist intends to work in Canada temporarily, then he/she has to get a work permit. Work permits are not issued to those who are searching for job. Work permits are issued only to those who have a specific job offer, with mentioned employer and a period of temporary employment.

For most jobs, the process of obtaining a work permit begins with the application of a Canadian employer to the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), to get a permission to hire foreign workers. The Service will determine whether the job offer complies with the Canadian labor standards, and confirm that no qualified citizen or permanent resident of Canada is available for the post proposed to the foreign worker.

Certain categories of applicants, such as senior management, priests, employees of embassies or sports referees, do not require the prior consent of the HRSDC.

If the applicant intends to work on temporary basis in the province of Quebec, he/she may also require a Certificate of Acceptance of Quebec (CAQ) issued by the Immigration Service of Quebec.

To get a work permit the applicant must convince the visa officer that he/she will comply with the conditions of the temporary stay in the country and leave Canada at the end of the employment contract. All previous visits and submit applications of the candidate will be taken into account during the assessment of the application for a work permit. Considerable attention will be paid to the financial status of the applicant to ensure that he/she will not seek financial assistance from the Government of Canada.

It is important to know, that the spouses and dependent children of foreign workers are also eligible to get a work or study permit, if they intend to seek employment or attend a school in Canada. In the event that the spouse obtains a work permit, permission from HRSDC is not required.
